Hello everyone and welcome back. In this episode Patrick talks about how modern day law enforcement came about, going all the way back to 1829. It started with then, British Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel. He recognized the need for a professional and respected police force in London after years of lawlessness and urban social disorder.  With time the police or "bobby's" earned public endorsement. Some of the same traditions and values that Peel envisioned in a professional police force,  are alive and well today.

Stay safe and thoughts and prayers continue to to the thousands affected by Hurricaine Harvey.  The link to this story is here:

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. In this episode, Patrick talks about the horrible topic of active shooters. Active shooter incidents are unfortunately increasing in frequency in America and across the globe. Members of local governments and the community must band together and combat this threat. Not only must efforts bring together first responders, including police, fire and EMS, into an integrated response, but research and experience indicates that local governments must increasing involve and educate themselves and business people in what to do when confronted with such a threat or an actual shooting itself.
