If you find yourself the victim of other people's bitterness, don't sacrifice your class to get even. Always take the higher road.
Have you ever been slighted? Have you ever want to seek revenge on someone? This can and often causes strife and anger in you. This can fill your heart with hate. This can consume you. I have been there. I have said things or sent messages to people that I often regret. Although, I can't undo the past I can learn from my mistakes and take the higher road in the future. When I do this, I am at peace because I am no longer consumed with seeking revenge. I encourage you to do so too. The anger, revenge and toxic attitude only hurts one person - YOU.
Take the higher road. I am not saying not to defend yourself in some situations, but I am advising you to take a pause before you take action and think - Is my response going to make me feel better and bring me peace?

When it comes down to it we all want to be happy. Yet, so many aren't happy. How can you improve your Mental Outlook and Wellbeing? 
Here are five tips:
1) Connect with people - When I say this I mean the RIGHT people. People who are positive and lift you up, not down.
2) Get physically active - No, you don't have to be in the gym for hours. Start with something easy - Like a brisk walk and build from there.
3) Learn new skills - Life is about continuing to grow and learn.
4) Giving to others - It can be as simple as your time. It can be as simple as giving your smile and positive attitude to others.
5) Pay attention to the present moment - This is essentially the core behind meditation. You will never get this moment back so live in it.

Having a bad day? Welcome to the club. We all have them, and we will continue to have them. The key is to not linger in them. You have the power to change your mindset. The next time you are sinking into a bad day I want you to try this:
I want you to put things into perspective. That's it. Not complex. Not hard. Just think of all the opportunities you have ahead of you. All the people (Family and Friends) in your life. The roof over you head. Your health. Your kids. Your job etc etc etc. Remember things could always be worse and there is always someone who has it worse. 
You see when you start being grateful instead of being pissed off your life will begin to change for the better. But, YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK.

It was an honor having my next guest on the show. I have been watching his trainings and video's for years. Dave Smith was on the show.
Former police lieutenant Dave Smith is an internationally known speaker, writer and law enforcement expert.  After graduating from the University of Arizona while fighting forest fires with the “Coconino Hot Shots” he began his police career in Tucson, AZ and then joined the Arizona Department of Public Safety.  As a career police officer, Dave held positions in Patrol, SWAT, Narcotics, Training and Management. In 1980 he developed the popular "Buck Savage" video training series, was the lead instructor for the Calibre Press "Street Survival" seminar from 1983 to 1985, and was instrumental in developing Calibre's timeless "Tactical Edge" officer survival book.  Dave holds numerous instructor certifications in firearms, defensive tactics, and human performance and is a proven expert witness and consultant.
In 1989, Dave joined the Law Enforcement Television Network (LETN), developing and hosting cutting-edge police, security and public safety training as its Director of Education and was the general manager of Calibre Press until January of 2002.  Dave continued to instruct the “Street Survival” seminar through 2012 as its senior instructor and he co-managed the most comprehensive update to the seminar since 2003.  Dave has authored hundreds of articles for publications including Police Chief, Law and Order, The Trainer, Police Marksman, the Newsline, PoliceOne and POLICE magazine.
Dave currently trains through the Arizona-based “Winning Mind Seminars.” His signature course, “The Winning Mind” is popular, timely, and available throughout the US and Canada. He co-instructs the unique “Mindset Bootcamp” with Lt. Col. Dave Grossman and is available for conferences, training events, and consulting. Such and honor to have fellow officers Keith Knotek and Mario Oliveria on the show. 
Keith Knotek is a retired sheriff’s sergeant and police commander with thirty years of law enforcement experience in California. Continuous exposure to violence and unaddressed trauma led to issues with post-traumatic stress and depression. Finally broken and brought down to his knees, Keith turned to Jesus Christ for help. Keith experienced forgiveness, redemption, and healing as his spiritual connection with God grew. Now he speaks about good mental health and how to achieve wellness through working a holistic program of recovery and resilience. Keith has been featured on television, radio, and podcasts giving his message of hope and recovery. His first book, From Sorrow To Amazing Grace: One Cop's Journey (with a foreword by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman) was released in May 2020. Keith is also the co-writer and executive producer for the faith-based film, One Cop's Journey, released in March 2022. Just after 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, Mario Oliveira was serving an arrest warrant in Somerville when he was shot six times in the chest, stomach and arm at point-blank range by a gun-trafficking suspect. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital where he underwent multiple surgeries by Dr. David King, a trauma services doctor who is also famous for his work on victims of the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing.
Mario’s heart stopped twice on the operating table but ultimately the surgical team was able to save his life. Five months later, he returned to work but suffered a heart attack in November 2011 and learned he would no longer be able to serve as a police officer due to the severity of his injuries from being shot the year before. Five years later, in June 2015, Mario also suffered a stroke as a result of the shooting.
Through his work with V.I.P.O., he now dedicates his life to making sure that other officers and their families will have the resources they need when a law enforcement officer is killed or violently injured in the line of duty.
