It is such an honor to talk to my next guest – Anthony McNeil. Anthony is a Retired Police Officer, served 20 years with Southfield PD (Michigan). Worked patrol, FTO, hostage negotiator and detective. During his time in law enforcement, He was awarded many department citations and merits! And he was named, "Everyday Hero" by local TV station WDIV.Business owner for 26 years. He is also the host and founder of 'The Off Duty Podcast" and if that was not enough, he is now the CEO/founder of the "Everyday Heroes Podcast Network.”

It was such an honor to have my next guest on the show, Michael Gier. Michael is an award-winning director/producer. He owns and runs Gier Productions, a Full-Service Global Film & Video Production Company. Michael produced and directed the award-winning documentary film – Wounded Heroes.
Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) among our veterans is a serious problem with over 20 veterans a day taking their lives by suicide. And just like veterans; firefighters, police officers, and other first responders not only deal with PTS, but they also have very high suicide rates. Most are given prescription drugs but as many have said, medication is just a band-aid over a wound that will never heal. Our Heroes deserve more than just a band-aid and so director/producer Michael Gier went on a mission and found successful alternative treatments that give anyone battling PTS their lives back. This award-winning film gives HOPE and literally saves lives.

We all face problems, personally and professionally. Everyone has challenges including you. If you don't have any problems that you are struggling with then you are very lucky. Most people do. So, if you are one of those people my question to you is what are you doing to change your circumstances? Are you sitting on the sidelines waiting for something to fall into your lap? That doesn't happen.
If you are unhappy at work what are you going to do? If you are unhappy with your personal life, what are you going to do?
You see, life is an inside game. Everything you want, the change that you want comes from within. You have the power to make the changes needed in your life.

I had an idea for a book for quite some time but never chose to put "pen to paper" until 2017. "Behind and Beyond the Badge" was born out of passion for all of the good, honest and hardworking law enforcement officers who put on the uniform each day. And that goes for all first responders. The book took two gold medals in nonfiction at the Florida Authors and Publishers Presidents Book awards, a national competition. With that and the overwhelmingly positive feedback I received I decided to write Volume II. People don't know what it's like to do the job but they truly want to know more. The books are a collection of stories about individuals who have done or are doing the job. Police officers, firefighters, dispatchers, EMTS/Paramedics, crime scene technicians and victim advocates. They have truly opened their hearts to let people in and talk about "the good, the bad and the ugly." Their stories might surprise you. In 2018, Volume I won gold medals in two non-fiction categories in the Florida Authors and Publishers President's Book Awards, a national competition. In 2019, Volume II was a finalist in Non-Fiction:True Crime in the International Book Awards and won two medals in the Florida Authors and Publishers President's Book Awards in Non-Fiction and Political/Current Events.
