I want to take a moment and acknowledge the first responder families and the hard and often difficult times they go through living with a first responder. FHE Health and Shatterproof is working on more resources for first responder families and I will have more information for everyone as we progress. It's about time that more resources were developed for families. 
First responder families, spouses, partners are so critical to the health and welfare of our brave men and women who serve . And, you might not realize how important you are but you are. God Bless you all for standing with your first responder.

I had a great interview with Melissa Kaiser recently. Melissa is a licensed social worker specializing in anti-human trafficking work, developing/maintaining multi-disciplinary teams, and secondary traumatic stress and officer wellness. Melissa is a certified trainer in Green Dot, Compassion Fatigue, GEMS, Stand to Protect, My Life My Choice, and SHARP, and is Child Welfare and Safe Zone/PRIDE trained. She has eight years of experience providing national/international training and technical assistance, and case management to victims of human trafficking. Melissa has trained over 12,000 students and professionals, and currently sits on the Badges of Unity Board for Fargo PD. Melissa's past experience includes treatment foster care, prevention education, and psychiatric and addictions. She was the first Human Trafficking Navigator and Victim/Witness Specialist in ND, with six years of program development within ND. Melissa was a nominee for the YWCA's Women of the Year 2020. She currently resides in Clearwater, FL.

Are you better today than you were last year at this time? I am probably guessing that most of you are not. You might be at the same place or you might be worse off than you were. But here is the thing, it's all within your control.
We are creatures of habit and we don't like change, but change is where all of your growth is. You can change for the better and doing the same things that aren't making you happy isn't good - physically and mentally.
Remember you have to save yourself because nobody is going to do it for you.

Every time I have a Special Warfare Operator on I am always amazed by their humility, dedication and devotion to this great country.
I had the honor of having Andrew "Sully" Sullivan on the show recently. Andrew is the CEO of Community First Project and BlueForce Strategies. They provide law enforcement organizations with no-cost training in areas such as de-escalation, stress mitigation and management, target identification and other critical skills, Community First Project can give police officers the confidence and critical skills to continue safeguarding our communities.
Senior Chief Special Warfare Operator (SEAL) Andrew Sullivan medically retired from the US military in 2020 after nearly two decades of service in the Special Operations community, including six years at SEAL Team Two and eleven years at Naval Special Warfare Development Group. 
His many combat commendations include the Silver Star Medal, two Bronze Star Medals with combat valor, the Purple Heart Medal, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, six Joint Service Commendation Medals with combat valor, two navy and Marine Commendation medals with valor, three Presidential Unit Citations and numerous other joint and individual awards.
Following his time in service, Andrew started BlueForce Strategic Action Group, a SDVOSB that provides tactical, security, and leadership consulting to the DOD, Federal, and Law Enforcement Agencies. Additionally, Mr. Sullivan has consulted with several organizations advocating for mental health treatment for Veterans and First Responders. He is a board member at One Summit, a 501c3 that provides resilience training for pediatric cancer patients. 
Andrew has a MS in Strategic Leadership from the University of Charleston, West Virginia, and currently resides in Virginia Beach, VA, with his two daughters.

In life, we sometimes get a chance to do something. Maybe it's an opportunity for advancement in your career. Maybe its a personal thing. Whatever it is, you should take the chance. Even if it doesn't turn out the way you want it you are going to be stronger for the decision you made. Not everything is guaranteed in life. Not everything brings you happiness.
But the last thing you want is to be in your final days and regretting the chances you should have taken.
