Hello everyone and welcome back. In this episode Patrick talks with Dr. Berit Brogaard. Dr. Brogaard is a Professor and the Director of the Brogaard Lab for Multisensory Research at the University of Miami. Her work has been featured in various public media, including Nightline, ABC News, The Huffington Post, Fox News and MSNBC. Dr. Brogaard has also done research in the criminal justice field regarding Neurolaw - which is an interdisciplinary study which links the brain and the law to understand why certain people act the way they do. In her recent book The Superhuman Mind: Free the Genius in Your Brain she talks about a brave new world in which we can expect to see new drugs and technology that will help the harness our extraordinary abilities. Hello everyone and welcome back. In this episode Patrick talks about how modern day law enforcement came about, going all the way back to 1829. It started with then, British Home Secretary Sir Robert Peel. He recognized the need for a professional and respected police force in London after years of lawlessness and urban social disorder. With time the police or "bobby's" earned public endorsement. Some of the same traditions and values that Peel envisioned in a professional police force, are alive and well today.
