Hello everyone and welcome back. In this episode Patrick talks with Policy Analyst and Columnist Ruben Pacheco.  Ruben believes in order to curb police misconduct law enforcement officers in the United States should hold their own liability insurance. Ruben doesn't think that citizens should have to be "on the hook" to pay settlements for officer misconduct. Ruben wrote an aritlce in the Las Cruces Sun Times (NM) about this very topic. A good interview with a different take on law enforcement accountability.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. In this episode Patrick talks to Jason Schechterle. Growing up Jason had one dream - to serve as a Phoenix Police Officer.  Inspried by his brother and the tragic loss of a local law enforcement hero, Jason worked persistently towards his dream. After serving in the military, at the age of 26, Jason achieved his goal to work the streets of Phoenix as a rookie police officer. Then, only 14 months into what was supposed to be a life-long career, Jason's life took an unexpected turn. He was hit by a taxi cab driver traveling over 100mph. Upon impact the patrol car that Jason was in burst into flames trapping him inside. Through a series of miraculous and fateful circumstances, Jason survived the crash but suffered severe burns to over 40% of his body which drastically altered his appearance. But through all of his pain and suffering, the power of human spirit endured in Jason. Though it took several months, he returned to work at the Phoenix Police Department and later retired honorably years later. His story is a testament of true love and the dedication Jason and his wife have in their commitment to honor their family and the vows of marriage in good times and in bad. Hello everyone and welcome back. In this episode talks about the importance of having a life outside of law enforcement. This doesn't mean retirement and moving on to something else. This means after you come home from work after a long day on the job, do you continue to engulf yourself in your job? Law enforcement can be very time consuming, but when you are not working you need to learn to disengage. Are you spending quality time in the areas of your life that might be lacking attention (family, spouse, friends etc?). There are great tips and suggestions that Patrick covers from a great PoliceOne article.
