In this episode, Patrick welcomes Officer Autumn Schmidt. She is the host and creator of the growing law enforcement podcast – Sheepdog Nation Podcast. Autumn created a "home" for Sheepdogs and their families who want to know they are not alone in dealing with the various aspects of the job. All topics of her podcast pertain to the life of a Sheepdog and how to deal with its difficulties. The show is a resource for the thin blue line family. It is a truth speaking, swearing and blunt show! Consider yourself warned.
You are going to love this interview.

In this great episode, Patrick welcomes Ray Vann.
Ray wears many different hats...and they often don't match! You see, as a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church, he is ordained to serve the Church as he lives among the world. This means that unlike other Catholic clergymen permanent deacons are usually married with families and work in the world to support their families. Most of them are not paid by the Church. In the reality and rawness of life, they are called to bring the Church to the world. As such, they must accomplish this mission. You will see Ray offer spiritual insight, but you will also see him promote his businesses and his ministry. Don't be shocked if Ray, a Catholic clergyman, is discussing firearms and the rights guaranteed by our Constitution. Don't be shocked if he doesn’t sugar coat his comments. Jesus often got straight to the point and didn't bother with any form of political correctness. Ray always tries to follow His path of compassion and forgiveness, but also believe in His message of justice.
Although this book, Killing: A Spiritual Discernment Guide for Law Enforcement, is written primarily for law enforcement officers, most of what is written is also of significant importance for any citizen who is regularly armed with any type of deadly weapon for the purposes of self-defense and/or defense of others. The topic of this book is a spiritual discernment on killing. More specifically, it highlights the importance of being prepared and working through the spiritual aspects or belief system issues associated with the possibility of having to end the life of another human being. In addition, this writing will assist law enforcement officers in developing a plan of action to be implemented immediately after an incident where deadly force is used.

In this episode, Patrick welcomes Ryan J. Ryan is a police officer in a large municipal agency in Arizona. His financial journey began when he and his wife saved up a sum of money and he didn’t know who he could trust to invest it. After several interviews with financial advisers, he still didn’t feel like he could trust anyone. Due to this, Ryan began his journey to educate himself by reading every finance book he could get my hands on and by attending financial seminars.
After getting a good handle on debt, finance, and investments, he decided to start this blog as a resource for others who find it difficult to trust people with their money.
Having been in law enforcement for 14 years, he has seen the devastation left behind by people who mismanage their finances. This also motivates Ryan to educate as many people as he can, both in and outside of law enforcement. Ryan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Administration Degree from Northern Arizona University. He is an adjunct professor at a local community college, and he has been a student of finance for many years.
His blog is dedicated to those looking to eliminate their debt and to mold a new way of thinking, living, and spending. Education focused on financial stability and wealth.

In this episode Patrick welcomes Jake Skifstad. Jake is the President and Founder of Shield616. Shield616 was formed with the peace officer on patrol in mind. The goal of this great organization is two-fold. First, they want to equip every first responder with necessary, advanced active shooter / crowd control gear. Second, the want to provide a support group for that first responder who will pray for the first responder and his or her family on a daily basis and show the first responder with support and encouragement throughout the year. Shield616 is very mindful that departments and their limited budgets Not only will all of the gear provided be donated; it will be replaced every five years at no cost to any first responder or department.
Jake was born in Northern Minnesota. From his earliest memories, he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up. Growing up, those desires never changed. After graduating high school in 1998, Jake attended Alexandria Technical College in Minnesota. Alex Tech is known nationally for their Law Enforcement training program. While attending Campus Crusade for Christ, Jake met his wife, Jenna. After graduating with an AAS in Criminal Justice, Jake returned to International Falls where he worked part-time with the local police department and sheriff department. In January 2004, Jake was hired by the Colorado Springs Police Department. Jake joined his brother Luke and cousin Dan on the force. Jake held specialized jobs with the Major Accident Unit, Crowd Control Riot Team, and the last 3.5 years attached to the SWAT team. Jake was involved in the active shooter situation at New Life Church in 2007 and the Planned Parenthood active shooter in 2015.
A great conversation with an amazing individual who is doing so much for the brave men and women in law enforcement.

In this episode, Patrick welcomes Val Van Brocklin. For over 30 years Val has been winning hearts, inspiring action and helping people find greater meaning in the work they do. She got here through a unique combination of skills, education, and “in the trenches” experience — all fueled by her own passion for people who have chosen to serve others. Val had a teaching career before she earned her law degree at the University of Virginia and stalked high adventure in Alaska – joining the Anchorage District Attorney’s Office. She quickly became a senior trial attorney. Because of her notable work, Val was asked to join the state’s Office of Special Prosecution & Appeals where she had state-wide responsibility for cases that were so complex, they required specialized investigative and prosecution efforts. Val’s endeavors again caught attention. She was recruited by the U.S. Attorney’s Office to prosecute complex white-collar crime, for which she received the FBI’s commendation. As a state and federal prosecutor for over 10 years, Val’s trial work sparked not only ample, local media coverage but was also featured nationally on:
ABC’S PRIME TIME LIVE
Discovery Channel’s Justice Files
And in USA Today, The National Enquirer, and REDBOOK.
Throughout her career as a prosecutor, Val’s dynamic presentation style made her a frequently invited speaker for law enforcement and other professional and community groups. It also left her fielding many more speaking requests than she could possibly meet — prosecuting criminals is a full-time job. And so, another adventure presented itself.
Described by Calibre Press as “the indisputable master of entertainment,” Val is now an internationally sought keynote speaker, trainer, and author.
Her training programs can be seen on the Law Enforcement Television Network, one of which won a prestigious 2000 Telly Award that honors outstanding cable television and the finest video and film productions.
Her Public Radio commentaries and stories include a 2005 national award winner.

He retired as a chief petty officer, and he is a combat veteran of three wars. While in the Navy SEALs, Mr. Allmon participated in numerous covert and overt missions around the world in support of US doctrine, foreign governments, militaries, and other official agencies. For all of you out there who love to laugh, even in the face of adversity, this book is a MUST read!
Patrick and Billy have a great conversation talking about about the military, what it takes to become a SEAL, how Billy gave up an Ivy League Education to join and NAVY, and law enforcement.
