As suicide is the #1 cause of death for police officers with PTSD, depression, substance abuse, and many other emotional problems plaguing first responders–now is the time to focus training on the wellness of our spirit
If you are suffering or if you know of any first responder who is suffering you will not want to miss this show.
In this episode I talk with Dan Willis. Dan Willis served for 26 years in part, as a crime of violence, child molest, homicide and cold case detective, SWAT Commander, and coordinator of his agency’s innovative Wellness Program. He provides emotional survival training throughout the country to any first responder agency. His book “Bulletproof Spirit” should become a primary resource guide to those who serve–it will save careers, marriages, and lives–and will give them hope.
Consistently being immersed in violence, danger, tragedies, and heartache can often scar the spirit of any first responder. “Bulletproof Spirit” book or the 4-hour training class provide over 40 proactive wellness and emotional survival strategies that will help protect and heal the heart, mind, and spirit of those who serve so they will no longer suffer in service.

CJ Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday: Delete Negative Self Talk
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Monday Sep 23, 2019
Hello everyone and welcome back to Microcast Monday. A big shout out to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Thank you all for what you do, and keep up the great work.
Thanks to our sponsor Detectachem. This great company is protecting our brave men and women who protect us every day. Click the link to Detectachem and see how they can help you better protect the ones that protect us. www.cjevolution.com
In this Microcast Monday episode I wanted to take a moment and talk about your negative self talk. People who give themselves negative self talk stop themselves from being successful. You need to kill that little voice in your head. When you have a moment today I want you to do the following:
1) Think back to a time when you crippled yourself with some negative self talk. Notice, where this little voice was in your head. Is it on the right or the left side of your head? In front or the back of your mind?
2) How loud is the voice? Normal, softer or louder.
3) If you could turn this voice into a shape, what shape would it be? A square, triangle, circle or any other shape? What shape is your voice? If you can't turn your voice into a shape imagine you were someone who could turn the voice into a shape - what shape is your voice?
4) What color is your shape? Is the shape in the same place the voice was?
5) Slowly move the shape away from your head, down towards your shoulder, how does it feel now? Most say it feels less powerful, pretty cool eh?
6) Allow the shape to move from your shoulder down your arm towards your elbow, how does it feel now? Is the negative emotion vanishing? Yes?
7) Let the shape continue further down from your elbow to your hand, notice how your negative emotions losses strength the further down the shape goes, move the shape to your leg, at its own speed allow the shape to drop down from your leg to your knee - how does it feel now? Less powerful?
8) Move it from your knees to your foot, is the negative feeling vanishing? With the shape on your foot, how do you feel? More positive?
9) Finally allow the shape to fall onto the floor - what do you want to do to the shape? Kick it away? Stomp on it?
10) Move the shape so you can't see it, now how do you feel? Have all the negative emotions vanished? Most said they vanished a long time ago. How easy and amazing is this exercise?
Try this exercise 3 times and notice how it gets easier and quicker to remove the negative voice each time you try it.
Remember this day is yours! Go conquer it and the week!

If you are a criminal justice professional who is struggling with fear, insecurities, and overcoming obstacles this episode is for you!
Nick Hays is not your typical Navy SEAL. After cutting weight as a wrestler, his growth was severely stunted. Standing just over 5 feet tall, he was often bullied as a kid and was laughed at when he told others of his dream to become a member of one of the world’s most elite units.
Hays learned that what first seemed like a deficiency was indeed his greatest strength because it made him immune to adversity. After leaving the SEAL teams following 10 years, he tried out for a para-military unit within the CIA. His operating days came to an end when he ruptured a disk while preparing for an operation in Afghanistan.
Disillusioned, broken and without means to provide for his family, Hays was left without a purpose in life. After recovery, his training kicked in, and he remembered the lessons learned from the SEAL teams and put them to the test with professional athletes. Word spread and before he knew it, he was training the Miami Heat and eventually worked with the Atlanta Falcons on their way to a Super Bowl.
Hays holds a BA from the University of Maryland, a Master’s in Business from the University of San Diego, and a post-graduate degree from the Harvard Business School.
Nick is the founder of Elite Team Performance - Their consultants operate as a single-minded team, united by a common set of values and an unceasing commitment to help organizations and individuals achieve their highest potential. You can find Nick and Elite Team Performance here:

CJ Evolution Podcast: Microcast Monday: What are Your Limiting Beliefs?
Monday Sep 16, 2019
Monday Sep 16, 2019
Hello everyone and welcome back to Mircrocast Monday! Remember its going to be a great day and a great week. Special thanks to all the brave men and women who work in the criminal justice field. Thank you so much for what you do. Keep up the great work.
Remember the power of your mind. Your mindset is so important to your success and the ability to overcome obstacles in your life.
In this episode, I want to talk about your limiting beliefs. We all have them. In order to move forward in your life you need to understand your own beliefs and which beliefs are holding you back. If you believe your life will be hard, your mind will concentrate on this belief and search for the evidence to back it up. Remember mindset!
I want you to write down all your limiting beliefs. The beliefs that stop you from moving forward. Here is an example: " I am a bad driver". Why do you believe this? Does your partner tell you this? Someone else. As you can see once you start questioning your limiting beliefs you will start to create doubt which will lead you to changing your beliefs.
To change your limiting beliefs, question and challenge the evidence that backs up this belief. Our mind never sets out wanting you to have a hard life. Limiting beliefs are often formed by your unconscious mind to protect you in some way: your limiting belief may have been adapted through past experiences, repetitive negative comments (from yourself and others) or your environment. Your mind rather than have you repeat this past distressful experience will allow you to believe it's not worth putting yourself through it again.
Take the time and write down the beliefs that are holding you back and update them. This will give you new opportunities you never thought were possible.
If you have any questions or if you would like to inquire about my personal coaching please reach out to me at www.cjevolution.com

In this solo episode, I wanted to first give praise and thanks again to our first responders and military personnel who protect our country every day. In this time of political division and many other problems the country is facing, remember that we all are Americans. Citizens should be coming together and supporting our brave men and women in law enforcement and in the military instead fostering an environment lack of respect for the police, like was recently seen in New York City (Pouring water on the heads of officers). First responders and military personnel are the reason we have this great country. If we continue down the path of division and lawlessness then our country will begin to spiral out of control and everything we have and take for granted will be lost.
I ask you to do two things for today:
1) If you haven't taken a moment of silence to respect the victims and victims families of 09/11 please do so.
2) Seek out first responders and military personnel and thank them for their service. It will mean the world to them and they deserve it.
Remember to never forget 09/11/2001

Hello everyone and welcome back to the show. Special thanks to all the brave men and women in uniform who protect this great country every day. Thank you for what you do. Keep up the great work.
It seems everyday more and more anti-police sentiment is out there. That’s why its always refreshing to see people out there that support our law enforcement professionals. My next guest is a fervent supporter of Law Enforcement. My friend Kyle Reyes is back on the show. He is the CEO of The Silent Partner Marketing and the national spokesman for Law Enforcement Today – The largest online publication for law enforcement.
Kyle is also the founder of The Whiskey Patriots. Member of Federal Task Force on School and Workplace Shootings. Board of Advisors for DeliverFund, a 501c3 that’s destroying human trafficking. Kyle is a Husband and father, and a keynote speaker. An entrepreneur fueled by a combination of bravado, caffeine and humility. A gun-toting, meat-eating, Christian, thin blue line backing, veteran loving, whiskey drinking patriot.
This is a great show you don’t want to miss.
But first-

We all need to laugh sometimes, especially law enforcement officers. Laughter is good for the soul. My next guest is Vinnie Montez.
Vinnie is a loud, boisterous and yet insightful comic. With a strong Mexican heritage his mom and dad were the biggest influences in his life; they weren’t afraid to be themselves or stray from the traditional Mexican culture, instilling core values while letting him find his own way. He grew up in Colorado and always knew he wanted to become a police officer and in 1998 his dream was realized. He has been a successful law enforcement professional for many years, and he has had many assignments. Presently Vinnie is a Commander with the Boulder County Sheriff’s Department.
Vinnie got into comedy in 2007 with a trial performance with an open mic night at Comedy Works in Denver and has never looked back. He has shared the stage with Joe Rogan, John Crist and Paul Rodriguez to name a few.
Vinnie is also heavily involved in charitable organizations and law enforcement causes and programs.
Vinnie and I get personal with our talk and he shared some of the obstacles he has overcome personally and professionally. A great show with a great person and friend.
